Melissa Carter was born in Melbourne, Australia. Despite her parents' best efforts she always remained the awkward turtle she started out as. Even moving to a small country town in Victoria had no positive effects. However, they were able to teach Melissa to love the written word (because lets face it, physical activities was not her strongest ability).
Throughout the years, Melissa swayed between identities (preppy, emo, weirdo, etc.) but managed to always have a love of books. Between devouring every book she could find and watching anime, she found time to write. Teachers would disagree with this - - homework was never a priority for Melissa.
Melissa has no offspring, she felt that this was for the best interest of mankind. Later in life she will no doubt adopt a thousand pets instead.
She does, however, have a husband. She met this gruff fellow, that has the insides of a marshmallow, on a blind date. Go figure. She decided early on (after hearing that he read books) that this was a man worth pursuing. Or being pursued by. Arguments still occur of who did the chasing.
This gremlin of a human, graduated from Deakin University and University of Ballarat. With the piling debt and an overstuffed head, she wandered off into the world of teaching. Tackling the world of teen education, she quickly learnt that bribes and threats were the currency of motivation; as her husband would say, just like prison. With a raised eyebrow and humorous t-shirts she rose to Head of the English Department in no time. This was a short lived victory. Stress and illness lead to a lifestyle change.
Now Melissa lives in Mexico, where she teaches English online, blogs and writes novels. She still watches anime and has many sleepless nights fostering orphaned Opossums. Want an 30 minute, unwanted lesson on how awesome Opossums are? Just tell Melissa that they are rats.
Melissa is very excited that you are following her on this journey. She hopes that you'll comment, support and challenge her along the way. Hopefully you'll also be able to read something she has written and published soon... she's pretty determined on that one. She apologizes for the 3rd person writing, and hopes that it hasn't been too obnoxious.
